Отличительные особенности породы
Суффолк – одна из лучших мясных пород в мире. Бараны широко используются для кроссов для увеличения темпов роста ягнят, большого веса, постных туш. Кроссы в возрасте 15-16 недель весят примерно 40 кг и больше с толщиной жира в туше 3 мм. Суффолки признаны лучшими терминальными баранами в сочетании с различными ярками в производстве баранины высшего сорта.

Продуктивность
Рост в холке у баранов составляет 68-80 см, у овец – 61-74 см. Вес взрослых баранов – 110-140 кг, овец – 80-100 кг. Интервал между окотами 360-365 дней. Плодовитость – 140-190 %, у первокоток –130-180 При интенсивном откорме вес ягнят в 3-х месячном возрасте составляет 35-40 кг. В идеальных условиях ягнята готовы для рынка в 9-12 недель. Убойный выход составляет 50-52 %.
Порода особенно популярна в коммерческом скрещивании. Баранов суффолк скрещивают с овецами других пород для производства гибридных ягнят на убой.
